420 (April 20)
Both marijuana smokers and non-smokers recognize “420” as a national celebration for cannabis counterculture. The term can be traced back to 1971 in Marin County, CA where five students at San Rafael High School would meet at 4:20 p.m. by a statue of chemist Louis Pasteur to partake. While marijuana has proliferated mainstream culture today, it also means you have a wider audience to reach.
PRO TIP: At the moment, 22 states have legalized medical marijuana while 11 (plus DC) have legalized recreational marijuana. The 11 include Alaska, California, Colorado, Illinois, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Nevada, Oregon, Vermont, and Washington. In 2018, California took the top spot for market size.
